Overview
My name is Matt Soave. I'm a recent graduate of UCSD, where I studied Cognitive Science, specializing in Human-Computer Interaction. I most recently worked as an Associate Human-Factors Engineer at Cubic Defense Applications in San Diego. Before that, I was an Interaction Design Intern at Hewlett-Packard. I'm interested both in redesigning existing systems and in creating entirely new experiences and solutions to new problems.
I was introduced to the field of Human-Computer Interaction from a human perception and cognition perspective, though I also love to do web development; I try to combine the two as much as I can. I approach HCI as a field meant to minimize the gap between human intention and execution – what is the most efficient and effective way for the user to accomplish a task?
This site was completely designed and hand-coded (okay, I didn't hand-code all of jQuery) by me. It consists of my portfolio of work and my personal blog on related ideas. Please look around and feel free to contact me about potential positions.
