Day 1 - Arriving in Zurich
Sunday the 25th of March, 2012
We arrived at our first destination of Zurich, Switzerland, around 4 PM local time (which is 9 hours ahead of Pacific time). Nothing too exciting today -- mostly just settling in and getting adjusted to the traveling mindset.
Neither of us had learned any languages that resembled German (other than English), so we struggled to figure out the local train system, but eventually made it from the airport to the main train station, Zurich Hauptbahnhof, at the center of town.
From there, we walked around the city, but since it was a Sunday, unfortunately many places were closed. Even though we struggled with German, we had fun reading the long street names (Kasernenstrasse, Badenerstrasse, and Bimernsdorferstrasse) and trying to pronounce the German words we saw.
After settling in to our hotel room, we left in the late evening to wander around the city some more, seeing the city's many churches lit up at night.
We haven't had the chance to really get too familiar with Zurich yet; tomorrow, we plan to check out some of the city's sites in more detail and stay another night in a hostel.
